Age Limits As On 01 January 2027
- Minimum Age : 18 Years
- Maximum Age : 33 Years
- 18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027 (UR/EWS). OBC-NCL plus 3 years, SC/ST plus 5 years, plus PwBD and ex-servicemen rules in CEN 04/2026. Date of birth not later than 1 January 2009.

In the second-stage test, Technical Abilities carry a large share of the marks (about 100 of 150 in the standard Junior Engineer pattern). Read the syllabus for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Signal and Telecommunication from the CEN annexure. Railway medical standards for Junior Engineer are strict; check colour vision and fitness categories in the notification.
